SgoL President's Message

Happy Pride! This was the second year the Seattle girls of Leather marched in the Pride parade. We kicked off our Pride with the Producers Collective, Unicorns vs. Uniforms party at Neighbors Night Club and it was a great success. We put the ‘fun’ in ‘fundraising’ and raised enough money to provide to provide a snack service on Pride weekend at both to the YWCA’s Rainbow Health Fair on Saturday and to the entire Leather Contingent after the parade. It was truly an honor marching with the Leather Contingent and supporting our community. We set up blankets by the fountain, opened up our cooler, and continued to show our Leathergirl pride and service all through the day.

This month was busy, busy, busy for the girls. We completed the painting project at the Catherine Booth house bestowing the women there with a double scrubbed, double coated kitchen. We took it from an awful avocado that should never have lived out of the 70’s, to a beautiful beige. Savanna Lurve earned her patch for taking lead on this project. She also earned ‘girl of the month’ for June, for going above and beyond the call of membership. Thank you to Christine Cummings and evil puppet your generous donations that helped to make the painting project possible.

Our girl ReeseyMay did such a great job earning her patch at the CSPC’s health sexuality day that we were asked to provide a snack service at the YWCA’s Rainbow Health Fair. We provided meat, cheese, veggies, and rainbow fruit sticks. The rain didn’t keep our sprits down and we made sure everyone at the fair, and at the Dyke March, tasted our rainbows. We also set up a table and provided safer sex education and awareness; the table also offered rainbow twizzlers. We definitely had a blast being of service and creating visibility. The YWCA was so glad to have us that they were dang near coming out of their skin asking us to come back next year.

Passion and Jessie earned their patches by doing a terrific job on the towel drive! The Seattle girls of Leather collected over five huge boxes of very needed towels for the Catherine Booth House. Thank you to everyone that donated a towel - the local women are sincerely grateful.

On Saturday July 14th from 9am – 3pm the girls will be at 4 Wheel Parts at 18121 Alderwood Mall Pkwy in Lynnwood washing car’s in bikini’s for $5. Yeah, that’s right, it’s a bikini car wash Leathergirl style. You are sure to not gonna wanna miss this. And yes, we will wash your bike, we will wash the heck out’a your bike.

On July 21st we will be tabling at Hot Flash Inferno for their SWAGGER party at Neighbors. There will be Leathergirl merchandise, raffle prizes, and lots and lots of dancing. Perhaps we can get the Luscious Lady Vi open up her spanking booth again?! I for one could use a visit with ‘bruiser’. Do you know what dancing + spanking booth + raffle prizes equal? Giddy, bouncy, sweaty, Leathergirls… mmm just the way you like’m.

Our next meeting is this Thursday July 5th at 6pm-8:30pm in the raw space of the CSPC and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer will bring. Stay happy and stay tuned.

In Leather,
